Frequently Asked Questions

What is TactivoPlay?

TactivoPlay is a collection of audio-based games for Windows PCs and laptops. The games are designed for non-visual play, using audio instructions, sound effects, spoken feedback, and simple controls.

Who are the games designed for?

TactivoPlay is designed for blind and low vision players, as well as anyone who enjoys audio games, accessible games, or games that can be played without relying on visuals.

Are the games suitable for blind players?

Yes. The games are being designed around sound from the start, rather than being visual games adapted later. They use audio instructions, clear feedback, and sound cues to help players understand what is happening.

Do I need sight to play the games?

The aim is for the games to be playable without needing to see the screen. Some games may still have simple visual elements, but the main gameplay is based around listening, reacting, remembering, choosing, and navigating through sound.

What types of games are included?

The first 10 games include Pizza Maker Plus, Hi-Low Card Game, Bug Basher, Beat Tapper, Sequence Memory, Black Jack, Audio Racer, General Knowledge Quiz, Treasure Chest and the Ancients, and Soundcast Fishing. The final 10 games will be chosen and suggested with help from the beta testing team.

How many games are included in the collection?

The full TactivoPlay collection includes 20 audio-based games. The first 10 games are currently being tested by the beta team, and the final 10 will be shaped by tester feedback and suggestions.

What devices will the games work on?

The games are being made for Windows PCs and laptops. They are not currently listed as mobile, tablet, console, Mac, or browser games.

Do I need special equipment to play?

You will need a Windows PC or laptop.

Are headphones recommended?

Yes. Headphones can make the experience clearer and more immersive, especially in games where you need to listen for direction, timing, movement, or sound cues.

Will the menus be easy to use?

The aim is to keep menus simple, clear, and audio-friendly. Menu design is also one of the areas being improved with beta tester feedback.

Are there fast visual reactions?

No. TactivoPlay is built around sound rather than fast visual reactions. The site already lists “No fast visual reactions required” as one of the accessibility features.

Do the games use simple controls?

Yes. TactivoPlay games are designed with simple, focused controls to make them easier to learn and more accessible. The goal is to make the games fun without requiring complicated keyboard layouts or fast visual reactions. Some games may require more complex controls.

Are the games finished yet?

The games are currently in the beta testing stage. The first 10 games are being tested, and feedback from beta testers will help improve the collection before release.

Can I pre-order the games?

Yes. The site currently offers pre-orders for the 20 Audio Games Collection, including a boxed USB version and a download version, both for Windows PCs and laptops.

Why is TactivoPlay available as a pre-order?

TactivoPlay is still in beta testing. Pre-orders help support development while the games are being tested, improved, and completed.

Is the pre-order discount permanent?

No. The discount is a beta-stage/pre-order offer only.

What is the difference between the boxed USB version and the download version?

The boxed USB version comes on a USB stick and includes worldwide shipping/postage. The download version is a digital download for Windows PCs and laptops.

Are the games short or long?

The collection includes different types of games. Some are quick games, such as card games and quizzes, while others are more involved, such as racing, cooking, fishing, and audio adventure games.

Can I replay the games?

Yes. Many of the games are designed to be replayed, especially score-based games, quizzes, card games, racing games, rhythm games, and memory challenges.

Will the boxed USB version work without downloading?

The boxed version comes on a USB stick. It should be useful for people who prefer a physical product rather than only a digital download. No additional downloads are required.

Can beta testers suggest game ideas?

Yes. The final 10 games are planned to be chosen and suggested by the beta testing team, so tester feedback is an important part of shaping the full collection.

Are the games only for blind players?

Are the games screen reader compatible?

No. The games are designed around audio instructions and feedback rather than standard visual menus. A screen reader is not required.

Do the games have spoken instructions?

Yes, the games use audio instructions and feedback so players know what to do and what is happening during gameplay.

How detailed are the audio instructions?

The first few times each game is played, you'll be given in-depth instructions. After that you will be able to turn on / off the more detailed information.

Do the games include music and sound effects?

Yes. Sound is central to the experience. Some games may use music, sound effects, spoken feedback, stereo audio, timing cues, or positional sound depending on the type of game.

Can children play these games?

Many of the games are simple enough for younger players, but the collection is not currently described as being for a specific age range. All games are family friendly. Parents, teachers, or carers may want to try the games first to decide which ones are suitable.

Are the games suitable for schools, clubs, or accessibility groups?

They could be useful for schools, clubs, charities, accessibility groups, and organisations interested in blind-friendly or low-vision gaming. The simple controls and audio-based design may make them suitable for group testing, feedback sessions, or accessible gaming activities.

Can I buy the games as a gift?

Yes. The boxed USB version may be a good option if you want a physical gift.

Will there be more games in the future?

This is a 20-game collection. Future games may depend on feedback, demand, and ideas from players and beta testers.

Can sighted players enjoy TactivoPlay too?
